The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that it was originally supposed to be the Season 2 finale, and Ruby leaving after 2 seasons would've had more of an emotional impact. But there is on-screen evidence to back this up too: the number plates on Mel's moped (WT75 QWK) and a parked car (AM75 RQC) indicate these vehicles were registered in *late 2025 or early 2026.* Someone would've had to procure custom number plates for this shoot because 75-plated vehicles aren't available yet. All to give a subtle clue of the episode's near future setting? It doesn't feel like much of a future-y story. (As a side note, they really should have done for Years And Years because everyone drives old cars in that show.) But it's never actually mentioned what year they're in. It _could be_ 2025-26. And given the rumours about Millie leaving early, the best explanation is that this was intended to air around that time, but they had to bring it forward due to unforeseen circumstances.

Forget the marketing, the new season itself, especially the first episode, feels entirely AI written. Like a computer took bits and pieces, images and themes, from all the prior Doctor Who, mixed and matched and presto! Crappy derivative new episodes.

Great point on how Gods are defined in the Doctor Who universe. I'm reminded about the rules for gods work in the marvel universe. in marvel, they distinguish gods and cosmic beings by saying that gods get more power the more they are worshipped. This is clearly very different than the doctor who universe.

The new season has been horrible in my opinion. I think that they misused the budget on mediocre cgi (the real enviourments were great though). I think rtd has taken a bit too much inspiration from marvel too, unit just feels like a low budget marvel base location. I think this has been a problem in other aspects of the show in the past but sometimes doctor who villain's for example, those crab things in the new earth motorway episodes just feel super uninspired like "hmm lets get crabs and make them big.. BAM" or "lets make an episode that is just this other British show with aliens" whereas doctor who could really strive to stand out and create identity and intrigue in its villain's and stories. Kind of the same thing with this villian. Its just a big rat with glowing eyes which i don't see as very creative or unique. I also think that Nacuti Gatwa is a great actor but each actor brings a different energy and Nauti feels a removed from the who i would think of as the doctor in the sense that he is more effeminate and seems to be less eccentric or leader like and i feel like the doctor is just a role that only some actors can play. i would also say its partly the writing too though. Also I cant stand all the insanely goofy moments in this new rtd era like i had to skip seeing all the musical scenes bc i just couldn't stand the cringe, or in wild blue yonder where you can tell the arms are weird looking and prosthetic and the cgi in the case scene look like snapchat filters and when they randomly grow bad looking vampire teeth? I really do think that this will be the second death of doctor who because I'm a gigantic fan and i couldn't even be bothered to check out the finale and as an individual i guess i represent the dropping views on doctor who. This is really sad to see because in the right hands and with a creative vision where you don't completely changing the identity of something beautiful and well received but rather develop it, considering its loyal and patient older fanbase that are not 7 year old snowflake iPad kids lol (no offence) I'm sure the younger viewers are lovely but i think that seems to be the archetype that this season is targeted for and it just takes away from the story. The message is really shoved in your face too which i dislike. Like i agree with most of rtds views, they're great. for example on gay rights, racism, capatalism ect but id rather not have it shoved down my throat in a sci-fi show you know? And i don't think it will change anything. If a racist watches dot and bubble and sees the ending scene its not going to have an impact on them because its not a creative, nuanced or subtle way of expressing that. Its just like telling a racist, don't be racist... its bad. like I'm sure they already know that's what people think and don't care. what we need is to creatively explore these ideas in creative ways that are integrated into the story discreetly to make someone think and reflect, not just shove your ideals into the writing. I just think that doctor who lacks a lot of vision and creativity. I think it has for a while here and there but i never minded since i enjoy just seeing the doctor and his companions running around and getting into trouble haha. I hope this doesn't offend anyone that reads it, I'm not trying to hate on doctor who. I'm just a big fan who is very disappointed.

Most of the elements would probably make sense and maybe even a good story in isolation, but none of it gels together. It’s all metaphor, which leaves you feeling very detached. The Sutekh story and Ruby’s mum story should have been kept separate.

Can’t wait to see how this ages!! Genuinely still left wondering who Mrs. Flood is (or if she’s even a “God” which I personally think she might be but we’ll see!) I know a lot of fans are kind of left feeling sold short which is really sad to see, but hopefully subsequent seasons do some kind of justice to this storyline (Ruby’s) because I REALLY like Ncuti a lot and I hope he can break the 3-season curse lol

honestly my issue with sutekh's defeat is to me the doctor getting the tardis back felt too easy, didn't feel like a truggle he just blew a whistle and BAM he got them back, like I know it was from the remembered tardis so it's not a regualr whistle but idk it just felt too easy to me
